When Canaan Developers was founded in 2015, Nairobi’s property market was expanding rapidly. Urbanisation and international investment were driving demand for modern housing. Yet many projects focused on scale rather than experience.

The First Landmark
One of the company’s earliest signature projects was Royal Canaan Nairobi Hotel in Nairobi. Completed around 2016–2017, the four-star hotel quickly became a notable presence in the city’s hospitality sector.
With amenities such as a heated pool, spa, and conference facilities, the project signalled that Canaan Developers was focused on designing experiences, not just buildings.
Crafting Residential Living
Following this success, the company expanded into residential developments designed around lifestyle and architectural meaning.
Grand Riverside, completed in 2022, introduced a refined apartment concept in Riverside Drive with just 30 luxury residences, prioritising privacy and exclusivity.
In Westlands, Escada and Volaire further strengthened the company’s reputation. Escada’s 14 storey tower features rooftop leisure amenities and panoramic city views, while Volaire’s open architectural design reflects a sense of movement and freedom.
Villas and Tranquil Living
Canaan also developed luxury villas in Lavington through projects such as Reflections, Moments, and 719 Springs. These residences emphasised serenity, greenery, and thoughtful design. Each development quickly sold out, reflecting strong demand for exclusive homes in Nairobi’s prime neighbourhoods.
Expanding Beyond Kenya
As its reputation grew, the company expanded regionally. Projects like Pavilion Bole in Addis Ababa demonstrated its ability to deliver premium real estate across different urban markets while maintaining its signature design philosophy.
The Next Generation of Living
Canaan’s newest projects showcase the evolution of its design philosophy. Developments like Aura Riverside, Lumiere, and Whispering Oaks emphasise smart living, natural light, and tranquil environments. Meanwhile, Aura Peponi, scheduled for completion in 2027, will introduce a 20 storey tower with duplex apartments and rooftop lifestyle amenities.
Reaching New Heights
One of the company’s most ambitious projects is Altura Upperhill, a mixed use development combining luxury apartments, retail, rooftop dining, and wellness spaces. Completed in December 2025, Altura reflects the growing role of integrated developments in Nairobi’s evolving skyline.

On 13 November 2025, the company marked its 10-year milestone at the Royal Tulip Hotel. The event brought together team members and partners to celebrate the journey from startup to respected regional developer. It was a moment of reflection and the beginning of a new chapter.
